So, I’ve just seen Steins;Gate – Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu (Steins;Gate The Movie – Burdened Domain of Deja vu), and I really came crashing down…. THE MOVIE IS AWESOME! I even cried! It was a feelings-rollercoaster, with a big dose of emotion-punch-in-the-gut! Really, the idea of making Makise save Okabe, making her acknowledge what he suffered during his time-leaps and making her come to terms with her own feeling is a stroke of a genius!
The story is just awesome. One year after the anime’s timeline, Makise returns to Japan to pay a visit to our friends from the Future Gadget Lab, only to return to her tsundere self as soon as she sees Okabe. Then Okabe is assaulted by a series of “delusions”, glimpses of his experiences in other time lines that are creeping into his mind, which seem too real to be just “dreams” or illusions, until suddenly PUFF, Okabe is no more, leaving a completely freaked-out Makise to save his ass 😛
Her tsundere side is just… hgnnnh
Okabe getting his mind all f*cked up
Whoever says that she isn’t sexy as hell, I’m gonna find you, and kill you!
I cried in this scene…
In a saddening turn, everyone forgets about him, as if his existence was entirely removed from the Steins;Gate world line. However, a lingering feeling of loneliness, of something-is-not-right-ness takes the entire crew, leaving hints that he once was there
Then, our beloved Amane returns, just in time to make Makise regain her memories of Okabe, and “rescue” him from the R world line. Makise remakes the Time Leap Machine (I don’t remember it’s Future Gadget number, sorry ^^’) and tries to save Okabe, just to have him tell her to forget about him and move on.
Oh man, this scene is a harsh one… It really is a punch in the gut… Come on Makise, you love the guy! Just say it at least now!
Unfortunately, Makise is still the same stubborn girl as always (although I must say I love her tsundere side 😀 ), and due to her uneasiness to come true with her own feelings for Okabe, she decides to continue living in this kind of world, without him. However, *tuturut!* Amane to the rescue! She grabs Makise, makes her ride the Time Machine built by the future Makise and Daru, and sends her back to 2005 (a date chosen by Makise), only to make Okabe die. She then comes back and, to no surprise, is in shock and decides to not try to save him, to just accept reality.
However, everyone starts to have deja vu’s, remembering bits about Okabe and she makes her own resolve to save him, by (god knows why) kissing the young Okabe after telling him about Hououin Kyouma (also, isn’t kissing a young boy rape? XD)
Mad Scientist Makise Kurisu… not bad 😛
This is clearly child abuse….
Apparently, that one kiss was enough to make Okabe realize that he was living in the “real” world, forcing his Reading Steiner to stop fluctuating and keeping him in the Steins;Gate world line.
Man, what a great movie… I really loved Steins;Gate, it was one of the best series I ever saw, and this movie just brought back that feeling of awesomeness and mental breakdown I had when I watched the anime…
And now, back to 3 school reports due tomorrow and finishing my Outbreak Company review!
